Human behaviour is governed by many things but the over-riding factor is the principle of least effort (this is not something I’m just making up). If presented with two options to achieve the same outcome people will tend to choose the easier one, it’s human nature. The rise in online shopping is perhaps the most obvious modern example. You can travel to a shop to buy something but it’s far easier to order online and have someone deliver it. As far as this applies to local shops, if obstacles are put in place making it less easy to access them then people will choose an easier option that provides the same outcome. In this case many will simply shop elsewhere if parking is easier. |
