You are quite right that the signing is clear. No problems with that. But, ... Firstly, a regular commuter who has their route modified is likely to be on autopilot and not take the sign in. That is why the running in period is useful. You want to change the behaviour not just create a revenue opportunity. Secondly, even a stranger to the area is going to find this sign very counter intuitive and hard to read. The street scene says this is a normal road but the sign says no motor vehicles. This will catch a lot of people out and needs to be monitored. I am not sure why the council didn't just try blocking off one end of Connell Crescent to make it a cul-de-sac. Problem sorted. Sure it would inconvenience residents to some extent but they would enjoy a much quieter street. |
