Several residents in South Ealing and Brentford got warnings and a few fined last winter by the environment agency enforcement officers. It seems that they did not fine elderly residents but did assist in ensuring that they did have heat. From the GLA "All burning of coal or wood is not allowed. This is finable on the spot if a dwelling has alternative heating means. Exceptions are in cases of hardship or no alternative." But those who are burning wood or coal for effect are fined if they do not heed the warning. £1000 Strangely, I cannot find out if anyone has been done for burning charcoal in a barbeque. Which is also banned under the LEZ and Smoke control act in the GLA area. |
