So... where are the IPC proposals? Ealing Civic Society (ECS), with WEN's blessing, has asked NHH to set up a meeting with IPC to try to find a compromise solution to how the IPC/NHH site might be used in the future to suit everyone's needs. IPC has refused to attend such a meeting. I tried to get a dialogue going with IPC in 2009 but IPC wasn't interested. I met with NHH in January 2009 and they told me they would submit a Planning Application for 51 Drayton Green before February 2009. NHH didn't do this. A few days ago the NHH Planning Application actually appeared - 17 months after it was promised. It involves the demolition of St Helena's Home which we (WEN) don't want and the building of just 5 social rented homes. IPC's congregation appears to be too big to actually use the EH Listed chapel. So rather that rent space at TVU, IPC probably needs to find or build a more appropriate permanent place for worship. Cleveland Councillor Isobel Grant is trying to get Ealing Council to locally List St Helena's Home so that it would be difficult for anyone to demolish it. No-one can predict what might happen next. It's all a bit messy but we probably wouldn't be in this mess if NHH, IPC and even Ealing Council had opened up a dialogue with WEN/ECS in 2009.
