Over in neighbouring Hounslow we find - Hounslow Council has revealed that it has prosecuted 25 residents for failing to complete their electoral registrations. 104 were warned in letters in January and this is the rump who failed to comply. It is known for years that there is a potential fine for not complying but unusual to find examples of prosecutions. If someone is unwilling to take up their rights, should they be penalised - or is this more a fault that electoral figures may help to justify grant receipts What next - compulsory voting Australian style? |
