| Actually I don't work for the Council and I do wish that the Council would use the Neighbournet sites and pay to advertise on them. I am just someone who is fed up with walking through rubbish strewn across the pavement, was frustrated by the lack of Council information and embarrassed by the state of the streets when I had foreign visitors to stay. It just so happened that I needed to re-organise my life, work and home and reduce the amount of waste we ourselves were making and started on that journey at the same time as the Council changed and new rubbish and recycling systems were on the agenda. (It seems big changes can only be organised at the the beginning of a term of office by governments or councils.) So I did something about it. The Council website has improved massively so that we can all (if we can) access it at our own convenience. This is better than expecting the Council to tell us everything using every media as there are so many different ones now and so much else the Council could/should spend our money on. (Generally whatever the Council does there is someone who doesn't like it and moans about it but I guess that's better than just being apathetic.) Christmas only comes once a year and generates an awful lot of packaging waste and many people are likely to be surprised by an early collection as they are so busy preparing for this busy family holiday. I looked up the arrangements, I reminded the neighbours I saw (instead of them asking me) and am just spreading the word to remind anyone else before it is too late and the collections missed. The lack of rubbish out (as reported on Chiswick W4 and as seen by myself around my street) was concerning. After all there is no point in reminding anyone when it is too late. Why not post about something that interests you and get a good discussion going? You obviously don't need to read mine! : ) Merry Christmas |
