Take a look at neighbour LB Brent's website with all the links: http://www.brent.gov.uk/streetcare2.nsf/Recycling%20collections/LBB-174 They have had (for a long time) a list of companies which take back electrical equipment. Re Bulky Waste - they have links so that their system can be compared with their neighbouring boroughs including LBE. They have compulsory (as do many other London boroughs)green box recycling and offer more than one green box. There is still only one place in Ealing to take fluorescent strips and the low energy light bulbs that we are supposed to be moving over to and that is Greenford. You used to be able to take them to Acton (where they take electrical equipment) but they said 'no' to me a few weeks ago and the strip is still in the car. I'm not a happy bunny. Apparently IKEA takes back bulbs (even if you don't purchase) but I haven't tried them and don't visit them very often. We need to reduce waste and not just increase recycling. The less you have the easier it is to deal with. If you reduce the overall amount of waste what does that do to the recycling figures??? |
