You may think that but you are wrong. Many of the councillors I was referring to remain in post. Of those that might qualify for extra allowances above the basic level, they either earned far more during their careers or could easily increase the amount they earned by giving up being a councillor and using the time to work extra hours in their profession. Most councillors are effectively making a financial sacrifice to take up the role. |
