The design of many box junctions can be problematic, particularly if the boxes are bigger than thry need to be or if other signals or road layouts affect them. A good example is the one on the Brentford side of Kew Bridge. Heading north the two lanes exiting the box merge into one and are compromised by a bus stop and a Pelican crossing. Thus one’s exit might be clear but then closes due to traffic merging or stopping suddenly. There are numerous examples like this in London.
