All sorts of glory hunters and their ilk go scheming to get themselves OBEs and citations.  It's been abused to a degree that those who really do spend their lives or their resources doing real good and campaigning and really making a difference get obscured by those who schemes and use others to get a nomination.

People keen to create Charities and who suddenly impose on others projects often have this motive.

Then there's the political lot.

It all really does need to be overhauled. Keep the honours by all means but rid the selections from abuse and glory seekers.
