| Thanks for the welcome Gerry. You say it is grubby but when I left, Elthorn Park was grubby though the city dumb that surrounded it was then allotments.Maps show a lot more green space now. Right now the days are sunny in Vancouver getting a high temperature of 8degrees celsius, though the little snow we had a couple of weeks ago disappeared within a day, and we will probably get rain soon, however the local mountains of North Vancouver ( about as far away as Ruislip is to you ) are open for Downhill Skiing using snow making machines. It is all kind of nice wearing a pullover or cardigan and and a blazer or sport jacket and looking at snow covered mountains. Many people do not like British Columbia weather because it is too British; it rains a lot, although to me it is quite often Camelot weather in that it rains at night and is sunny during the day. Being a Rain Forest region it is always green with flowers blooming almost all year through. AND OH! by the way, I remember radio luxenburg, my parents got tickets for a Winifred Atwell show ( 2 1/2hour shows really ) being recorded for radio luxenburg.... AND reception was poor but worse if you wanted to listen to the American Forces Network broadcasting out of Germany with the latest hit music of the day,--- AND I drink Ovaltine; it is quite easy to get here, often with Chinese as well as the Official Languages of French and English for the ingrediants and preperation instructions demanded by Law. I should point out my favourite candy (sweets) are Maltesers(the spelling looks wrong but I am sure you know what I am refering to ) Thanks again for the welcome. |
