It’s been that way for years. Remember when the riots happened in 2011? Coppers everywhere for a few weeks and then zero on street presence anywhere.

Interesting that the Met today launched a new recruitment drive, which is likely to be as ineffective as the last one. Rather like politicians trust in the police has fallen to an all-time low and many potential recruits simply don’t fancy it. Difficult to see how any government can remedy that.
