All talk and trousers so far. 300,000 new homes each year for the next 5 years! Cloud Cuckoo land. Borrowing money by developers is still expensive. Only one new start major residential development in Central and West Ealing in recent months. The new Chancellor made no mention of building on Metropolitan Open Land (MOL) which is a major issue in the Gurnell Swimming Pool residential tower blocks' development proposals. MOL enjoys the same 'status' as Green Belt. The chancellor is an economist - maybe she doesn't know what MOL is? Also remember that Johnson and Gove made all kinds of noises about reforming the planning system and nothing really came of it. The planning system is seriously broken and has been for years. It will take much intelligent effort and many years to fix it. |
