Some of the causes behind the increase in congestion post covid: Public transport usage is down Private vehicle usage is up Increase numbers of minicabs and delivery vehicles on the road Collisions have increased (by about 25%) Cycling has increased, supported by a greater number of cycle lanes, and has been responsible for mopping up some of the lost trips previously made by public transport. Further, The Evening Standard reported on the 28th June that TfL "are in the process of delivering a world-leading upgrade to London's traffic signal system." |
