The only positive in this is that a few people will give up their cars. But without knowing what impact on car ownership this hike makes, it is impossible to know how much of this change is ideology and how much is just about fleecing the residents.

Where I wish to see an improvement is a tax on households owning more than X cars and especially a tax on large and thirsty cars. 4X4s in London are totally ridiculous except where they are needed for business involving regular and heavy work..
