Due diligence at Ealing Council is carried out by a small cabinet cabal, headed by Peter Mason. Nobody else is involved, other than a couple of senior council officers. Given Mason’s incompetence and propensity to tell bare-faced lie ;’no more tall towers in Ealing’!) it’s likely that this due diligence is more rubber stamping than asking the hard questions.

There are also concerns about the financial health of Vistry, the chosen developer for the Gurnell site. Former cabinet member for Good Growth, Shital Mari, assured residents at a meeting earlier this year that there’s ’nothing to worry about’. Manro lost his seat at the election, so it’s not his problem any more, but it seems nobody is really doing their jobs properly at Perceval House.
