| The council doesn't design or build these schemes and can only make a determination whether any proposal meets the relevant planning law. I don't go to the centre of Ealing regularly and got a bit lost in the Dickens Yard area a few weeks ago. It was tumbleweed time even though it should have been the busy work period. I was taken aback by how many bars, shops and restaurants were there that I had no idea were there. Part of the problem seems to me that it isn't likely to get much pass through footfall and therefore even locals don't visit unless they have a specific reason to be there. One major error in the planning was not ensuring the wayfinding to the development from Ealing Broadway station was better. You currently get to it through a skanky alleyway if you want to go direct - the Mews development currently proposed could have alternatively provided a much more attractive gateway. |
