| It was way back in October 2005 that Barratt and Ealing Council announced a consultation on Dickens Yards proposals. Save Ealing's Centre (SEC() and other groups and individuals strongly expressed the view that the retail offering would be a failure. How right were we all. Three weeks ago I counted the number of empty retail units in Dickens Yard. It was 19. As for empty Dickens Yard flats, as it's a private estate one can only guess at the number empty flats by noticing in the dark that many, many flats are in darkness. Surely Ealing Council Planners must take some responsibilty for this retail/luxury flats disaster. Interesting to reflect that the Ealing Council leader has two degrees in town planning.... |
