| Apparently ( from a third party so will be checked in due course) Residents were reconsulted and voted overwhelmingly to reinstate this LTN. It is of course one of the very few that is and has been for decades a 'Rat Run' from the ever congested Hanwell Broadway /Boston Road junction which has never been addressed and really is caused by oversized vehicles more than density of traffic. Rat Run is unfair as it is really displaced local light traffic from the regular obstructions of heavy vehicular traffic which is too big for parts of Boston Road. With some changes it has been far less busy than it was, especially when it was in both directions. However, One can understand this as these streets are small side single carriageway, narrow residential streets, not distributor roads and were not built for heavy traffic. However, I understand that just a tiny proportion of residents responded and many were not informed of a consultancy. And of those who did respond, the overwhelming majority totals less than a few dozen. Maybe someone has the actual verifiable figures to save making a FoI request. One wonders if this was done as online only or if many households were simply not notified, or simply not bothered. As it inconveniences residents themselves unless they have a permit ( which is not clear in the info received) There ought to be a rethink on how these " consultations' are carried out and if less than 50% respond then it's void. It ought to be made clear that this is the case and questions should be clear, straight and matter of fact and not loaded as has been all too often the case with most Council and Developer consultations. But the biggest problem is too many not being clearly what is going on, or what happens with loaded questions and how they are interpreted. |
