Yawn indeed. London has c.15% of England's population. Therefore one would expect road fatalities to be around 15% of the UK total of 1752 (2019 figure provided by BRAKE) or around 262 tragic deaths in 2019. There were less than half this number (125 according to the Mayor's office). Far more deaths outside London, probably explained by higher mileages and motorway journeys but nothing like the apocalypse some would have you believe. |
