Don't you think you are stereotyping here? I have lots of friends and colleagues who were privately educated and they are mostly perfectly well balanced, decent individuals with a range of different outlooks. Having been through the state system myself and seen my kids go through it as well I'm not prepared to claim that it offers a better preparation for life than private education. Ideally there would be no need for anyone to pay and high quality schooling would be available to all. The problem as I see it is that many state schools prioritise keeping as many children as possible in lessons no matter how disruptive they are to the determent of the others who really would like to learn. |
