| There is a lot more to local businesses than "small filthy convenience stores" as you put it (which in any case only exist because people find them useful). Small businesses are the single biggest employers in the country. It is damned hard work running one. I'm quite sure that the majority of "public servants" would crumple before they had even got as far as filing their first VAT return - the fruits of which help to keep these vast armies of public "servants" in work in the first place. Besides, it's all about pressure groups. If the majority can't or won't visit sufficient pain on our elected betters then nothing will ever change. |
