This project has not even got to the planning application (for change of use) stage -- the Daniel family have put the building back on the market as the Ealing PCT are not able to commit to going ahead due to changes going on in the NHS. In a press release on 10 June 2010, the PCT said: Following the recent policy changes announced by the new government, the Daniel family and NHS Ealing are reviewing the proposed development of the West Ealing Integrated Care Centre. For some time, NHS Ealing has been planning to site the centre at the former Daniel store to improve access to primary health care and increase the range of services available in the community. The PCT remains committed to delivering improvements in primary care in the area, but in light of the policy changes recently announced by the new Government, the PCT is looking again at this scheme to ensure it meets local needs, is supported by local GPs and the public and offers value for money. Independently, the Daniel family, recognising the changing NHS environment, is also reviewing its role in the future of the scheme and, with the understanding of the PCT, it is seeking to remarket the premises. Robert Creighton, NHS Ealing Chief Executive, said, “We have worked hard to bring this scheme to fruition and greatly appreciate the collaboration of the Daniel family in doing so. While the policy framework is changing and being reviewed, it is understandable that key partners of the local NHS are also reviewing their own plans. If in the end this particular development does not go ahead, we will work with local GPs and residents to see how best to provide enhanced services in the community for the people of West and Central Ealing.” A spokesman for the Daniel family said: "The Daniel family have worked very closely with the PCT to bring about a fine new health centre for Ealing and will continue to do so whilst the present government is considering it's finances." |
