Baker's Lane was in the area where the Car Park now is. I was born in Western Road which ran from the Uxbridge Road to The Grove. Most of it was demolished when the new Town Centre was built but there is still a small part where the King's Arms pub still stands. As children we used to go to Baker's Lane to buy bread from Nelson's Bakery. This was in the fifties.
