Consultaton chaos is also rife in Planning Applications' Public Consultation durations and deadlines. Take the current Green Man Lane Estate (GMLE) Planning Applications (721 new homes on an 11.5 acre site). No less than three different Public Consultation deadlines have been delivered to residents: 1. An Ealing Council Public Notice published in the 26th February, 2010 issue of 'Ealing Gazette' stated that a 21 day Public Consultation period would end on 16th March, 2010. 2. An Ealing Council letter to West Ealing Neighbours dated 17th February, 2010 told residents that the Public Consultation period would last 42 days and end on 31st March, 2010. 3. Ealing Council Public Notices tied with string to lampplosts in GMLE state that the Public Consultation period would be 42 days in duration and end on 9th April, 2010. Just what hope have we got if people in a single department - the Council's Planning Department in this case - can't come up with the same duration and the same end date for a Public Consultation exercise. |
