I remember regularly eating at the Samrat with my then girlfriend in the late 1980s and 1990s.  Mr Islam (latterly with the white beard) was always friendly and welcoming. 30+ years ago he let me use the toilet before the restaurant opened and I was simply passing by - an act of kindness never forgotten! In the last 10 years, I thought the food had declined markedly, improving more recently.  A former waiter told me that the chef simply refused to alter his recipes, regardless of whether or not people liked them. I wonder if the 2 brothers bought it from the original owners in 2007? I'm sorry to see it go.
