The long-running dispute is due in court again on 6 May, although it will be heard online. We are awaiting directions from the court on exactly what the case will be about. It is the uncertainty on this score that has made it hard to send round updates. In broad terms though, the hearing will examine a second scheme for the future of the Hall, and the Prince’s Hall beneath, which a judge ordered the Charity Commission to prepare when it quashed their first scheme in September 2023. Friends of Victoria Hall is appealing that the Commission’s new scheme dated September 2024 has inadequate safeguards to ensure the Halls will continue to be available for the public to use as was the intention when the Ealing public donated the funds to construct the building in 1893. Go to the FOVH website for fuller news updates which are due to appear shortly. |
