"not all the planning decisions go the way the council wants. One notable example is the Gurnell development that was turned down by the committee a couple of years ago. Even Labour members voted against, despite it being a plan conceived by the council itself."  (21/06/24 23:17:00 Simon Hayes)

There IS the odd (very odd) occasion where the Planning Committee members develop a momentary conscience............

In relation to that Gurnell development, ref. 201695FUL, the Planning Committee rejected the Planning Application on 17th  March 2021. Perhaps the Labour members voted against it because the Mayoral and Assembly elections were taking place at the beginning of May 2021. Labour run Ealing Council did not want to incur the wrath of the electoate so close to that election. it seems.

Now safely after that election, Labour run Ealing Council have ressurected the proposals to build housing on Metropolitan Open Land and in the River Brent flood plain, together with a replacement for the original Gurnell Swimming Pool, ref. 241706OUTR3.

It seems that Labour run Ealing Council, whenever possible, inorder to meet some perceived goal in their deluded heads will brownnose some developer above them. Whilst at the same time being disingenuous to the people of the L.B. of Ealing.
It seems as if the People are beneath them, except perhaps at election time. Getting rid of Planning Notification Letters seems to have been part of this process.

If this is how Labour run Ealing Council operate locally, I would not want a national government run by the Labour Party and their leader, Sir Starmer with the Lego hair.
