Subsequent delays weren’t because of rising interest rates, the go ahead was given before Trussonomics kicked in. There were issues of power supply, etc, which has affected other developments in west London. You don’t have to look too hard to see that developers don’t really like building affordable homes in their schemes. It’s not a new thing and is particularly common in areas deemed highly desirable, such as riversides. Local authorities are not really reluctant to vary consents or grant them restrospectively, especially given the cosy relations between parties. Very little was done to head off the sudden closure and that’s what’s really upsetting people. |
