It's difficult to decide. This current mix of radicals mistreats that Labour are happy to accommodate is the fickleness and indifference and gullibility of the electorate. But I do feel that the real wrong is the total lack of a vocal and effective opposition and the virtual abandonment of any opposition of moderation in not just Ealing but most of London. To have a hugely imbalanced controlling party in what has for a very long time been a bit of a narrow majority borough and the infiltration and Creedence given to vocal but not necessarily truly representative pressure groups with varying degrees of actual residency in the borough is damaging. As is allowing some students to vote in two places. Why do councillors and senior executives not have to declare membership or participation with funded activist and pressure groups? It distorts and undermines democracy. I feel it is opposition parties that have really let the citizens down. And Political parties that have let everyone down. |
