There is a plan published online which I've taken a clip from below.
There is no date given but I think it is the latest one and the council says that it consulted extensively (I can't recall anything about it and it is something I would have been looking out for).
As far as I can see the road doesn't narrow to single file at any point although the plan is not completely clear. There is a pick up and drop off point in front of the station which presumably can be used by taxis including Ubers.
While judgement should be reserved on how this new configuration will operate, it is at least good news that funding has been obtained to press ahead with the work rather than leaving the front of a landmark station looking a complete mess.
