| At this stage it would also be putting small independent traders at a huge disadvantage. Large chains seem to have a deal with the card companies that allow them to put through low value transactions without a charge whereas corner shops always seem to have a minimum amount. They would have to absorb this extra cost if customers were expecting not to use cash. |
