| Councillor Dennehy set up a similar petition recently, through the council website, and received only 66 signatures - 1500 are required for the council to discuss the concern. It's really worrying just how many unsuitable developments Planning Services are recommending and trying to push through without allowing for proper consultation. At least some are being rejected by the councillors on the planning committe, thankfully. At a recent committe meeting the chairman, contrary to established practice, voted first in favour of a particularly bad development, when it is normal for the chair to vote last, or not at all unless a casting vote is needed. This convention is adopted to avoid the possibility of the chair influencing the other voting members. In this particular case, the remaining committee rejected the proposals. |
