| Re xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx thanks for that link Nigel, and here is a copy of an e mail I have sent to interested persons I know :- " There is a park in Ealing called Bunny Park, which has an small zoo like area of animals and on the edge of the park is a church dating from the 11th century. Apparently in this church is the entrance to a tunnel ( via a grave? ) which was used by Dick Turpin to evade his pursuers, dismounted of course from his horse which he led through the tunnel , the length of which being almost a mile or so and coming up in the Northfields area of Ealing, again supposedly via a grave, the details of which I was given but sadly since lost. Nearby the church on the edge of Bunny park is a thatched cottage which I stumbled across 30 yrs ago, and I often saw an old lady sat outside. The link shown here gives info re the cottage and which I read in the local paper years ago that the rear garden was allowed to " develop " into a nature reserve, and judging by what the link article says, it seems that the garden must be of a very reasonable size." |
