| My house wall is the boundary wall, but I have the right of "eavesdrop", i.e. my eaves and guttering can overhang the alley way next door. The garden wall, back and front, which runs straight off my flank wall, is a party wall. If things progress, then I'll need to bring in a specialist party wall surveyor. There's not a lot they can do, though, only make sure the correct advisories have been given and that any work proposed which will touch my property or go down under my foundations is done with due care and diligence. They can't actually stop anything, it would seem. It's crazy stuff. Someone has said that Sahota is appealing. Can you tell me where I can find that information? Victor has spoken with the editor of Ealing Gazette to highlight this awful case, and we neighbours have sent in several letters. Let's hope the feature gets published. Personally I think an article in a national paper about people coming in and destroying our architectural heritage is long overdue. It's happening everywhere, and planners are allowing it. I have no problems with new building and refurbishment of old properties as long as they are in keeping with the character of the area and are not overbearing. The plans for next door don't fit in with any of that. |
