Move to Richmond - we have THREE cinemas!!! In all seriousness, I have just left Ealing after eight years and moved to Richmond and it’s like a breath of fresh air. Richmond is what Ealing used to be like. It's got all the facilities that Ealing hasn't - it’s got a great mix of independent shops and high street – as well as a department store. It’s got loads of restaurants, bars, pubs, CINEMAS etc. Proper theatre, swimming pools, My early experiences with the council have been excellent – everything we have requested has been efficiently delivered/completed Even the bin men are a revelation – polite, quiet and so tidy!! When we lived in Ealing you could tell when the bin-men had been as the road looked as if it had been hit by a tornado!!! Our recycling boxes are stacked neatly within our front gardens not thrown and left where they land – there isn’t a trail of rubbish which has been dropped by the bin men and there are no bin stores left with the doors open and bins half in and half out. The streets in Richmond are clean and in turn the people treat the area with respect. Ealing still has a lot going for it but I really believe it has gone downhill in recent times and nothing seems to be being done to stop it. I imagine the site for Ealing Cinema will become yet another block of pokey flats – even though the schools, transport system and amenities can’t cope with the amount of people as it is. It’s a real shame and a long way from when it was held in high esteem as the Queen of Suburbs |
