I presumed the idea was to try and encourage those who didn't already to have a go at separating their food waste. Until you do this you are unlikely to see exactly what and how much you are wasting and realise how you can adjust this and probably save money as well. We've always found an old tub to use if the food waste bin wasn't available on the spot. What is it now that people have to have something made for purpose all the time and can't improvise? Where's the vision? I noticed that LB Hounslow suggest that you use your shredded paper ie shredded personal papers to line the bin to soak up any liquid that collects in the bottom and help make it easier to clean. Oxford City Council provide a first roll of compostable bags and also a diagram showing how to fold the newspaper to line the bin. |
