Mine have twice been taken away by the binmen when they got tatty - and it was their decision to remove them, not done at my request. I was then left without relevant bag (white one for plastics) until I requested new one. Due to these experiences, I always assumed that they were automatically taken away when deemed 'no longer fit for purpose'.
