"What we don't want is our small gardens and pavements filled with overlarge wheelie bins and all the trundling of bins and lorries emptying them". - Right on Girl!! - that's one thing at least the last Council should be given credit for - letting us choose what non-recyclable refuse storage system we wanted. But for those of us whose homes and circumstances make black sacks the lesser of two evils, there is one problem which needs attention in the collection system - as we have to put our bags out the night before to avoid missuing the early morning collection, they sometimes get ripped open and the contents strewn over the footway or road by nocturnal animals. Currently the refuse crews just leave the mess there and ignore it - can they not be issued with a standing instruction (and the necessary manual equipment such as a brush and large dustpan) to clear it up and put it in the wagon with the intact refuse sacks? - Or would that be too simple? Oh and BTW could you local politicians please get the message that us punters (barring a few political obsessives) are not the slightest interested in being regaled with your inter-party bitching? Apart from anything else both Labour and Conservatives have a well-established track-record here of corrupt, arrogant and unresponsive maladministration in recent years/decades (that's why the Council control has swung so violently in recent elections), so you've proved every bit as bad as each other. And the few Libdems - certainly the one that purports to represent us in my ward (but doesn't) has also proved as bad. So just can it and (if you can bring yourselves to do so) listen to us a bit more and mouth off to us a bit less (apart from responding properly to our reasonable questions and comments) and get on with doing the job properly - eh? |
