I lived in Hanwell (Ealing Boro') from before WW2 until 1960 when I got married and moved to Kent and later Berks. Ealing Broadway was pretty much my second home in my younger days and I have fond memories of the place. It seems to me that such character as the area possessed will be destroyed by the proposed Arcadia development.
I now live in Auckland, NZ in a historic "heritage" area and any proposed development that smells of high-rise doesn't get any traction. We fight every attempt to wreck the place and the essential colonial character of our township is forever preserved.
I can only wish more power to the collective elbows of you Ealonians to wipe out the scourge that threatens your town. I still have friends roundabout and they will keep me posted as to developments.
Good luck.
John Chant.
