| If whites commit the most crime then why are they not the biggest proportion of people in prison? Why is it that ethnic minority men are more likely to be arrested, plead not guilty and still be sent to prison (on remand) by the Crown Court? And on it goes... Why is it that ethnic minority men are more likely to receive a longer sentence than white men, more likely to be remanded in custody and more likely to be acquitted when the case eventually gets to trial (a wait of up to 2 years in the modern times)? And on it goes........... In fact, if our prison population reflected the ethnic makeup of England & Wales there would be equivalent of 9,000 fewer prisoners (roughly the size of 12 average-sized prisons). Justice, my foot! |
