Dominik is being deliberately obtuse. Seems to be a common thread with him and Paul (eg ‘driving for fun’). To explain simply for you Dominik, as you clearly can’t grasp the concept. It’s not roads empty of everything, which in your strange world means having no vehicles parked along them. It means roads that are not artificially blocked by planters, bollards or unnecessary traffic lights. That’s what an empty road is. Under your plan, if parking is to be removed, so would bike hangars, lime bike bays, park lets and any other nonsense thrown in. Incidentally, in Wandsworth residents are now asking for parklets abd the like to be removed. As for cars getting bigger and heavier, there’s a red herring you and others are putting out there. The current size of EVs and hybrids are well within the size limits of standard on street parking bays. There are a number on my Rudd and none extend beyond the marked lines. There’s plenty of space for vehicles to manoeuvre without removing any parked vehicles, or bike hangars. That’s true on most roads locally. If a council bin lorry can pass unhindered down our roads as currently laid out you must agree that there’s plenty of scope for cars, which are considerably smaller. |
