Simple objectives 1. Keeping traffic moving and thereby reducing pollution - you don't achieve this by allocating disproportionate amounts of road space to minority travel methods. Simply citing that cycling will double is facile, Even if it did that is still less than 10% of overall journeys and less than a third of those made on foot IMPROVE THE PAVEMENTS 2, If you must provide dedicated infrastuture at least make it fit for purpose not unmaintained unswept wand routes which stop in the middle of nowhere or shared pavement routes as is planned for Boston Road which stop at the point where there is most likely to be the greatest contention for road space. God, I don't want it to happen but I do predict serious safety issues northbound after Trumpers Way where cyclists leaving 'protected' space are simply thrown back into traffic. Ealing has no record of delivering safe contiguous (over a decent stretch) cycle provision, none at all. |
