This can happen TOO Nigel. Pavement improvements are in the bag with extending this cycle lane up to and past Elthorne Park, including raised continuous pavements at side roads.
No amount of improving pavements is going to help though unless they also put bollards in to stop this just happening again. Not the worst example either!
