If you view everything the happens through the prism of every Labour Council being incompetent, corrupt and malign, you are never going to properly understand what is going on. When the council agreed to the deal for the new arts centre to be built as a twin arrangement with the develop of the old centre site nobody was saying 'but what if Russia invades Ukraine and oil prices shoot up and interest rate rise even more because the worst Prime Minister in our history will nearly bankrupt our economy in less than two months?' There are questions to be asked about what has gone on here particularly the short notice given for closure but trying to blame an individual, organisation or comapany doesn't really stack up because it is quite clear why closure was inevitable. The main issue going forward is can the centre be put to good use - it won't be politicians who are ultimately behind this as there isn't money available to fund a revived arts centre but a community led project could provide an answer. |
