Same old claims from the supporters of these developments. Much needed new homes, housing crisis, blah, blah, blah. Anyone with an inch of brain knows nothing that’s being built is to address the need for housing. The council could build traditional council housing. There’s nothing to stop it and they did have the funds. But it fancies itself as a property developer now. The Waitrose scheme is going to be yet another unnecessary tower block where the local infrastructure can’t support the numbers of potential new residents. Although hopefully the lack of electric capacity might put the brakes on it. Other utilities, particularly water, are also at breaking point locally. Ealing has been ripe for exploitation since the council failed in its statutory duty to produce Authority Monitoring Reports giving the numbers of new homes built over the past few years. It has also failed to update its local plan. No doubt those trips to MIPIM for Bell, Mason, Clement, Taylor and co were t a waste of developers money. |
