Walking along Warwick Road past the Uni I noticed that there was at least one new tree that looked decidedly thirsty. Some of these new trees seem to have black piping for watering them at their roots. Others don't. Some look as though the pipes have been pulled out. One nearer to Lammas Park seems to have been pulled up and disappeared altogether. Even if it rains a bit in the next couple of days because these trees are street trees surrounded by paving they are unlikely to get much water at their roots. As I understand it is always better for them to be watered further down to encourage their roots to grow down. I shall email trees@ealing.gov.uk but there may be no answer. So please if you have new trees near you give them a helping hand of a drink of water to settle in! |
