I don’t know why everyone is so worked up about this. Politicians at all levels these days are almost exclusively motivated by self interest. What the public wants or needs is secondary to what suits the politician and his friends/donors/shady acquaintances.
The entire electoral system needs overhauling, and I’d do away with constituency MPs. Very few of them do much for the areas they represent, particularly the higher up the ladder they go. We’ve now got the situation where pro-Remain MPs like Stephen Kinnock are worrying about losing their seats because their personal views ‘clash’ with the majority of their voters. |
