Interesting times but to me the ideal answer is to effectively stay in the "common market" bit but remove ourselves from the "european federal project" bit. That will leave us with less control over the market bit as we would be out of the EU but completely separate from any integrationist plans. Effectively we have opted out of Schengen, Euro and other stuff so we are not interested in that bit anyway. so single market and customs union will give us better trade deals than liam fox will get anyway. recently Japan and South Korea have signed deals with the EU that changes things for the Far Eastern car companies in the UK. So yes revoking article 50 would be good for some but would leave dangerous divisions. So we leave the EU which satisfies the vote and yet we stay in the trade bit and keep our jobs. so a win win compromise. But then we need government that actually listens to what is going on in this country so that we never get in such a mess again. |
