We should all be very upset with this excursion by senior officers and the leader of the council. The police are not allowed to take on second jobs. Why do think that is? Those second jobs might compromise their position as law enforcers. Many of us worked in posts that clearly defined how you behaved. Even after I left one of my jobs I was still confined by the terms of the Official Secrets Act. There is clearly a conflict between development and planning and very big bucks to be made by the developers. Given the sensitivity I wouldn't be keen on letting them go at all even if LBE was paying. But to let them go (their excursion costing £10,000 each) paid for by developers who could benefit by this chumminess is just not on. Sorry not on.
